Thaniya currently heads up TED's media initiatives on mobile and connected devices. She is responsible for overall strategic direction, investment, product management, growth, and operations on all non web platforms owned and operated by TED.

Thaniya joined TED in early 2010 where she created the product development team as well as spearheaded all mobile development efforts. She built a cross-disciplinary team of product professionals: managers, designers and researchers who work side by side engineers within the larger technology group. Her role eventually moved into running the business of TED on apps.

Her passion lies in the intersection of human-computer interaction, design, and behavioral economics. Her work has been recognized by numerous awards, including Emmy, Peabody, Adobe MAX, Webby, and the National Design Award.
