Young Guns

Young Guns is a portfolio competition awarding creative professionals 30 years and under, including designers, illustrators, entrepreneurs, and more!

2017: Now under the umbrella of The One Club for Creativity, Young Guns 15 returned the competition to an open entry process, encouraging young creatives from a broad range of disciplines to apply. By seeking out talent from beyond the design and advertising worlds, Young Guns 15 received a record number of entries from more than 40 countries.

The YG15 Jury was made up of nearly 50 acclaimed creatives, equally balanced between men and women, and with just over half of them past Young Guns winners themselves. After nearly two months of careful deliberation, the jury selected 84 entrants for a finalist list — the first time in Young Guns history that the finalists were publicly revealed. The final round of judging resulted in 32 new Young Guns, who were awarded a colorful translucent Cube designed by YG9 winner Roanne Adams and RoAndCo.

Danielle Krieger and Casey Warren are the award winning commercial-directing duo MINDCASTLE. Together they are known for their powerful emotional storytelling. They developed their cinematic eye with a foundation in photography that flourished into directing. While in college, they were approached by ESPN to create a piece for the NFL Draft. This led to working on numerous films, commercials and TV shows, traveling all over the world and working with top sports athletes and celebrities such as Derek Jeter, Guillermo Del Toro, Floyd Mayweather, Russell Wilson & Dave Mathews Band to name a few.

MINDCASTLE has collaborated with brands such as Patrón, ESPN, Canon, The New York Rangers, ARRI and Major League Baseball to create engaging, striking and impactful films. MINDCASTLE’s work has acquired numerous accolades including the One Show’s One to Watch directors, Young Director’s Awards at Cannes, One Screen Festival’s Emerging Writers as well as an Emmy Award. Recently, they have won a Clio for their work with The New York Rangers. Casey and Danielle thrive in collaborative settings and love to work with brands and agencies to build ideas from the ground up. They are known for creating a “world” for their films where they build scenes with layered character and texture. They love to be a part of the whole process, often designing and creating unique props and elements for their films such as over one hundred hand-created basketball team branded mixtapes for their film “Mixtape” for ESPN. They worked with ARRI on the development of the Alexa Mini, providing feedback on the design and functionality. This led them to create the successful and award winning launch film “The Journey.” They have a keen eye for design and when not working on films, one can find them tracking down and refinishing mid-century furniture or traveling around the world to seek inspiration for their next film.
