As creative director and writer, Nancy has travelled from Toronto to Tokyo working on projects as diverse as the Globe and Mail , Foster’s Ale and Yamagataya Nori (seaweed). Her agency experience includes senior positions at NWAyer, AC&R, and Dentsu, where she was SVP Creative Director and Member of its New York Board. Among her numerous industry awards, Nancy has two TV commercials in the permanent collection of advertising at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City. She’s helped position such international clients as Seiko, NARS, Cle de Peau BEAUTE, Shiseido, Procter & Gamble, Aruba, and Canon. Her first TV commercial, a Christmas spot for Folgers coffee, ran every holiday season for nearly twenty years. Nancy’s recent book, Ad Critique , is a landmark textbook that teaches students and pros how to effectively critique creativity in advertising. She’s also a contributing author of The Get a Job Workshop, a newly published anthology of insights and advice for aspiring creative professionals in the advertising, branding, digital, and experiential fields. Prior to coming to The City College of New York where she teaches in the Media & Communication Arts Department, Nancy taught advertising to potential art directors, copywriters, and design managers at Parsons School of Design where she was twice the recipient of the Henry Wolf Award for Teaching Excellence. She has also taught at the Baker School of Business and Technology at FIT. Her other academic honors include three Colin Powell Service Learning Awards, The New York Organ Donor Polaris Award for Education, and the City College of New York’s Presidential Junior Faculty Leadership and Service Award. As the chief architect and director of the newly launched graduate program in Branding + Integrated Communications (BIC), she’s keen on the future of communications. “BIC isn’t just about creating nimble thinkers for an ever-evolving world, it’s about re-imagining the industry.” She has a BA in English with a minor in fine arts from the University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Media Studies from The New School for Social Research.
