David is currently an Instructor of Advertising (Creative) at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he started in the fall of 2016.

Prior to his recent return to the US, and foray into academia, he was Chairman and Executive Creative Director of BBDO Vietnam, which he founded in 2007.

In addition to running BBDO, David was active in promoting the creative industries and developing talent in Vietnam. He routinely spoke at universities and for post-graduate classes, while also mentoring communications studies students.

He has judged at a multitude of international award shows, and was a juror for the Vietnam Young Lions/Spikes each year of their respective existences – often serving as jury chair. His work has been recognized at The One Show, London International Awards, Campaign Brief’s ‘The Work’ and Cannes – bringing Vietnam its first lion in 2003.

Over his 20 plus years in the business, he has also worked with JWT, Ogilvy & Mather and Y&R in Vietnam, as the creative leadership behind the work for many of the country’s largest brands. And was also a copywriter with a few Colorado agencies that no longer exist – and is assuming that’s not his fault. He has also paid the bills working as a lacrosse coach, airport van driver, woodworker, ditch-digger and video store clerk.
