Troy Elias (Ph.D., The Ohio State University) is an Assistant Professor in the Advertising sequence at the School of Journalism and Communications at the University of Oregon. His research interest is in identity and social influence, with an emphasis on race and ethnicity, information and communication technology, and Internet advertising. His research examines the impact of appealing to consumer’s identities and its effect on American culture. He has taught courses in Visual Communication, Advertising Design and Graphics, Social Influence in New Media Environments, Communication Technology, and Persuasion. He has published in the Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Interactive Advertising, Journal of Social Media in Society, Online Information Review, and Journal of Homosexuality.
