John Kudos was born in Bandung, Indonesia and studied graphic design at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, graduating with a BFA in Design with Digital Media concentration in 2001. Prior to establishing KUDOS Design Collaboratoryâ„¢ in 2008, he worked for Pentagram New York for seven years, working closely with partner, Abbott Miller, where he led various cultural, retail, and institutional design projects.

Kudos is an interdisciplinary designer whose work embraces strategy, design, and technology. His practice focuses on collaboration and experimentation informed by diverse cultural backgrounds and technological resources. His projects include brand identities, publications, websites, user interfaces, interactive installations, motion, signage, and exhibitions, many of which spans across multiple media.

He works with a broad range of clients in non-profit, education, healthcare, design, art, cultural, startups, and publishing fields in the U.S., U.K., Japan, and Indonesia. Highlights include Cornell University AAP, MIT Media Lab, Rutgers University, MoMA, Guggenheim, The Met, Sotheby's, Asia Week NY, Designers & Books, Metropolis Magazine, 1100 Architect, Shelton Mindel Architects, DesigNYC, Queens Library, Center for Urban Pedagogy, The City of Bandung, EG Conference, Jing Daily, and Shinkenchiku-sha.

He has won numerous awards, including the Art Directors Club's Young Guns, Silver medal by the Society of Publication Designers, The Webby, D&AD, Type Directors Club, AIGA, NY Book Show, and published by Graphis, GD USA, Print, I.D., Communication Arts, STEP Inside Design, andBlack Book AR100.

Kudos teaches typography and communication design at School of Visual Arts and is a visiting critic at The New School and Cornell University.
