Lizette Carstens juggles many different balls as eternal student, designer, supervisor, lecturer, and academic programme navigator for Creative Brand Communication and Game Design at Vega.
She started her career working with Project Literacy an Non Profit Organisation focussing on adult literacy Training. During this time she worked with the Independent Electoral Commission on the design of voter education material for countless illiterate voters participating in South Africa's first democratic elections in 1994. In 2004, Lizette launched her own design studio focusing on developing brand communication campaigns for Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises - a key component of the South African economy. Her career has taken her through many facets of design from specialized training material, digital and web design, brand development and consulting for clients as diverse as the Liberty Property Group, Anglogold Health Services and South African Chamber of Mines. Lizette has also lectured part time at various institutions.
In 2013, she completed her Masters Degree in Information Design, researching the value of co-design approaches for user-centred design.
In 2016 Lizette took a full time position as academic programme navigator for Creative Brand Communication and Game Design at Vega, where she is responsible for the academic development of programmes in Copywriting, Digital Design and Game Design and development.
