2012 Best of Show Winner’s Career Takes Off

The One Club, producers of the prestigious One Show Awards, announced today the call for entries for the One Screen Film Festival, a global short film and video competition. The deadline for submission is October 18th, 2013.

One Screen was created by The One Club to create a forum for creatives in the advertising industry and filmmakers alike to showcase their passion projects. Last year, filmmakers and creatives from 45 countries submitted over 500 entries.

“What began as a creative outlet for the advertising industry has become a respected short film festival in its own right,” said Jonathan Jirjis, One Screen Producer and One Club Video Producer. “One Screen is a forum for filmmakers and creative to express themselves without the limitations of client approvals and studio executives.”

In 2012, Martín Rosete won Best of Show at One Screen for his short film, Voice Over, a dramatic film that uses plot-shifting techniques to tell a story that is equal parts science fiction, period piece, suspense and love story.

“The unique thing about the One Screen Film Festival is that it’s the best of films and commercials,” said Martín Rosete, director and 2012 One Screen Best of Show winner. “It’s great for a director like me who is interested not only in directing feature films but also in directing commercials. One Screen merges all of that together and gives you the opportunity to get more recognition and exposure to agencies, clients and producers.”

“Winning Best of Show opened up a lot of doors,” added Mr. Rosete. “Getting my work in front of the One Screen jury, a group of accomplished directors, started a lot of conversations that led to several directing opportunities.”

In the last year, Rosete has shot commercials around the world for brands including Optimum-Cablevision, Kendall-Jackson, Omnitel, Mangali Water and Cili Pizza. He is currently reviewing scripts for a feature film.

This year’s submission categories are as follows:

• Films Under $10,000: A film created for a budget of $10,000 or less. • Micro Film: A short film that runs under 15 seconds, produced for a social media platform. • Narrative: An original storyline involving a plot and characters presented as a short film. • Documentary: Political, social or historical subject matter in a factual and informative manner. May include actual news clips or interviews. • Music Video: Promotional films or video for popular music genres. • Animation: An original, animated short film or video sequence. • Branded Content: A creative fusion of advertising and entertainment with a highly branded quality that blurs the distinctions between the two. Films may include events, installations, film, video games, music, the Internet and television.

Winners will be announced on January 28th, 2014 during the awards ceremony and screening at the Sunshine Cinema in New York City. For more information about One Screen, visit www.onescreen.org or email onescreen@oneclub.org
