The One Club

May 02, 2017

One Screen (www.onescreen.org), the premiere short film festival that unites the film and advertising world, announced today the call for entries for the 2017 competition. Paul Haggis, whose director and writer credits include Oscar-winning films Crash and Million Dollar Baby and HBO's acclaimed mini-series Show Me A Hero, starring Oscar Isaac, has agreed to be a part of this year's jury of filmmakers, advertising creatives and designers. Full jury will be announced in May.

New categories this year include a partnership with Free The Bid celebrating women in film, VR and Movie Posters, in addition to existing categories Narrative, Documentary, Music Video, Animation, Branded Content, Budget Under $10,000, Mobile Film, Title Sequences and Experimental. Additionally, there are Emerging categories, introduced last year, recognizing directors and writers with fewer than three years' experience.

"We are excited to partner with The One Club and grateful for their support of our mission to #FreeTheBid for female directors in advertising," said founder Alma Har'el. "The Free The Bid Awards will celebrate and highlight the excellent work that women have created, and amplify our call for diversity in the advertising industry."

Past One Screen winners include Oscar-winning director Laurent Witz and Martín Rosete, director of award-winning feature film Money, whose producer connected with Mr. Rosete at the One Screen ceremony and screen in January of 2014.

"In just its sixth year, One Screen now has the drawing power to attract Oscar winners as both entrants and judges," said Jonathan Jirjis, Executive Producer of One Screen. "It's become a home for the passion projects of accomplished filmmakers as well as a proving ground for promising young talent."

The early deadline is June 16.  Final Deadline is July 14. Winners will be recognized at the awards ceremony on October 17, 2017 at Sunshine Cinema, a Landmark Theatre in New York City's Lower East Side.
