New York (September 30, 2008) – On October 28, those curious about the future of Chinese advertising need look no further than The One Club Gallery for the kick-off of the One Show China Workshops, a multimedia exhibition featuring the award-winning work of young Chinese and Taiwanese photographers, designers, artists and advertising students.

The exhibition offers proof positive that The One Club has succeeded in the ambitious mission they embarked on in 2001 to raise creative standards and increase job opportunities for advertising professionals in China. Over the course of eight years, their educational workshops in Shanghai and Beijing have become the most prominent international advertising activities for students and young professionals in China and the go-to channel for agencies seeking emerging creative talent.

“A record-breaking 18 teams found immediate employment with top international agencies after completing the 2007 workshops,” said Kevin Swanepoel, President of The One Club. “These days every multinational advertising agency has at least one, if not more, offices in China, and these workshops allow young professionals the unique opportunity to get noticed by leading Executive Creative Directors in China and jump start a career in advertising.”

A growing emphasis on concept and strategy distinguishes the print, TV, interactive and photography work showcased in this exhibition from that of past years. The work on display is the result of a week-long workshop focusing on the new breed of Chinese creativity that was conducted by The One Club last November at universities in Beijing and Shanghai. Over 6000 advertising students and young professionals competed to attend the workshops by submitting work in response to a creative brief sent out by The One Club. The work was then judged online by a panel of international One Show judges and leading creative directors in China.

The exhibition, One Creative World, One Show China, showcases work from over 450 of China’s brightest young professionals, representing 34 different provinces in China. Under the guidance of some of the world’s best advertising minds, the attendees were given the task of illustrating the new creative in China based on briefs provided by such well-known brands as Absolut, Samsung and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC).

The Future of International Collaboration This November, for the first time ever, five Oregon State students will travel to China to take part in the One Show China Workshops and further the exchange of ideas between the U.S. and China’s advertising communities.

The One Show China Workshops exhibit opens on October 28th with an invitation-only cocktail reception and will run through November 14 at The One Club Gallery, 21 East 26th Street, 5th Floor. For additional information, please visit The One Club web site at www.oneclub.org.
