With 20+ years of experience in the industry, mostly in New York, and more recently in Tokyo — Kumi has been leading innovative work by exploring the intersection of technology, creativity and people. In 2004, she joined R/GA in NYC as a software engineer and worked on a series of award-winning projects such as Nike+ FuelBand. She was a founding member of R/GA Prototype Studio, where she built prototype-driven experiences and products. In 2020, Kumi joined Meta in Tokyo to lead Creative Shop. She’s also a vocal champion of DEI, and leads the DEI Council at Meta Japan. She is a strong advocate and mentor for women in technology and engineering roles.
