As founding faculty of BIC, Gerardo has been privileged to see his students win a Young Ones Gold Pencil, be featured in AdWeek, and start a brilliant career at Droga5. He continues to work as an independent creative director and communications strategist; clients include UNICEF, the NIH, Brooklyn International Book Festival and DIRECTV.

Previously, he worked as an art director at SS+K, McKinney and Ogilvy; he also freelanced at JWT, Comedy Central, Strawberry Frog, Fallon NY and 360i. In that time, Gerardo won numerous awards including Clio, ADDY and Effie; his work has been featured among Ad Age’s Best, as well as in the Communication Arts Advertising Annual, Critique, and Archive magazines.

In addition to his branding and design work, he creates art pieces that often challenge preconceptions through humor. In 2012 he was awarded a Maurice Sendak Fellowship for outstanding storytellers. Gerardo’s artwork has been recognized and exhibited in the U.S., France, China, Hungary, Finland, Brazil, and Argentina and published in compilations and magazines such as McSweeney’s The Believer.

A native of Argentina, Gerardo graduated with both a BFA and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, where he was a full scholarship student.
